EMAIL Setup For MS Outlook - A Brief Guide (Please Allow Page To Load) This is a brief guide to getting your email settings correct for your new email account. You will have been sent the relevant information with your ftp login details to upload your site. Bear in mind that any existing website forms (if you were on the old Jackbox server) need to be setup for 'Aspmail' - NOT Cdonts or they will no longer function. We can give you a template for this if required. Be careful not to create typo errors when setting up your email accounts. If you have a problem, recheck your settings. If all else fails - call us. You can access your email control panel to set up additional accounts via: http://webmail.jackboxwebdesign.co.uk/horde/imp/ Note: Please substitute jackboxwebdesign.co.uk for your OWN domain name or you will be unable to login! Enter the first part of your email address ('fred' in the case of 'fred@yourdomain.co.uk') as your username and enter the password you were provided with. Anyway, on to Outlook Email Settings ( Settings for Eudora are also provided further down the page). 1. In Outlook Express, go to 'Tools' and 'Accounts'. Select 'Mail' and 'Add'
2. Enter the 'From' name you would like your recipient to see:
3. Enter the email address you were supplied with by Jackbox or 123connect
4. Your incoming POP3 server should be set exactly as below. The Outgoing smtp will be that provided by your ISP, typically 'mail.freeserve.com' or 'smtp.ntlworld.com' (for a full list see further down the page).
5. For account name enter the email address you were allocated. Password should also go in here.
6. Now click 'finish' and test your email account.
If you experience any error messages whilst trying to connect and retrieve email. recheck your mail settings a missing full stop or typo error and it will fail - DOUBLE- CHECK! Also try the 'connections' tab in settings too. Lastly make sure you are using the CORRECT setting for ougoing SMTP - refer to list at the foot of this page for most common ones in use. 2. 'your domain' and 'your name' should be replaced with the email address you were given. Smtp should be the one you would use with your ISP (see Outlook Express above for more on this)
